Six Literal Days of Creation

Sermon Guide
Genesis 1:6-25 • April 12, 2026

Sermon Outline

BIG IDEA
God created everything in six literal days with order, purpose, and design, revealing that our lives are intentional and accountable to Him.

OUTLINE
The Creator reveals that I am…

  1. Dependent on His design in creation (Day Two)
God formed the atmosphere and sustatined environment for life.

  2. Sustained by His provision on earth (Day Three)
God established land, seas, and plant life, all reproducing according to kind.

  3. Directed by His order in the heavens (Day Four)
God placed sun, moon, and stars for time, guidance, and stability.

  4. Positioned within His created world (Day Five)
God filled the seas and skies with life, preparing the stage for humanity.

CALL TO RESPOND

  1. Recognize the order and intention in God’s creation.

  2. Reject the idea that life is random or accidental.

  3. Embrace your role as created by and accountable to God.

  4. Reflect God’s light in a dark world.

Group Discussion

  1. Come prepared to discuss: Read Genesis 1:1–25 and note repeated phrases (e.g., “God said,” “it was good,” “according to its kind,” “evening and morning”). How do these patterns shape your understanding of creation and God’s authority?

  2. How does seeing God as the intentional Creator change the way you view your purpose, identity, and daily life?

  3. Where are you tempted to believe life is random, meaningless, or driven by chance rather than God’s design? How does this passage confront that thinking?

  4. In what areas of your life are you not reflecting God’s order, purpose, or light? What would it look like this week to align your thinking and living with His design?

DIRECT APPLICATION

  1. Are you living as someone designed by God with purpose, or drifting as if life has no clear direction?
    a. If you are walking in clarity, share what keeps you grounded in God’s design.
    b. If you are drifting, identify what beliefs or habits are pulling you away from truth.
    c. As a group, commit to reminding one another that life has meaning because it comes from God.

  2. What specific lies about identity, purpose, or origin most threaten your faith right now (culture, science claims, personal doubts)? How can you replace those with the truth of God as Creator this week?
